Mosaic can be done in the traditional Roman way, using small squares of stone, but to get the range of colours I want, I use ceramic tiles which I break up and arrange to form pictures or patterns. The cafe scene is by far the largest piece I have made - a commission to fill a wall in a conservatory. Because of the time taken to make these, they start from around £50. A wall-sized piece would be over £1000, but what a unique feature to have in your house!
